This week in math we have started our Patterns unit. Students should understand the concept of input pattern and output pattern. We have been practicing finding patterns by looking at tables and at figures, students should be able to write a pattern from looking at table of values.
This week in science we started our last unit; Sky Science. We introduced the unit with understanding the difference between emit and reflect. We also went through rotation of the earth. Students should understand the reasons for day and night, seasons and what a revolution and rotation are. The visual journal illustrations of reasons for seasons, reasons for day/night, rotation, revolution, emitting light and reflecting light are due on Tuesday April 30! In Humanities, we have been focusing on the writing process for short stories. This includes planning, writing, editing, and revising. Good copies of stories were due earlier this week with marks coming back next week. We have been working on identifying and describing the three pillars of Athenian Democracy and how the compare to the four pillars of Modern Democracy. On Friday, students were introduced to their final project in the Ancient Athens unit: "Democracy or Not, You be the Judge!" We will have lots of class time in the coming week to work on solidifying understanding of Athenian Democratic Structure and the issues of fairness and equity. Comments are closed.
